The "African UN Youth Delegates" project aims to enhance representation of the youth from the Global South within the United Nations. Seeking dedicated and enthusiastic young individuals aspiring to serve as UN Youth Delegates and Fellows, this initiative aims to champion youth interests both at national and international levels.
Focused on supporting, guiding, and deploying a new cadre of UN Youth Delegates from Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, and South Sudan, the project endeavors to establish UN Associations in these nations. Additionally, it offers the opportunity to become a UN Youth Fellow, engaging directly with the United Nations' work on the field.
Applications are open for participation in the African UN Youth Delegates Program 2024, seeking to cultivate a new generation of UN Youth Delegates. Selected candidates, numbering 20, secure the role of Youth Fellow, gaining access to UN internships and outreach programs.
These candidates will attend a National Assessment Workshop in Nairobi, collaborating with other UN Youth Fellows across the country. This workshop aims to familiarize them with their responsibilities, prepare them to tackle pertinent youth issues nationally and internationally, and select two delegates to represent youth interests at the United Nations in New York and within East Africa. Furthermore, these chosen delegates will participate in three regional workshops.
