FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the Capacity Strengthening Training on the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP) 2026 for Civil Society & Community Organisations

The Life & Peace Institute (LPI), in partnership with the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR) and the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR), is inviting applications for the third cohort of the Capacity Strengthening Training on the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP). The programme is designed for civil society and community-based organisations working to advance peacebuilding, transitional justice, reconciliation, human rights, governance and related areas.

The three-day training will provide participants with an opportunity to strengthen their understanding and practical knowledge of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy while building skills and connections that can support their work within their communities and organisations. The programme will also bring together practitioners and organisations from across the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes regions to facilitate knowledge exchange and networking.

The training is scheduled to take place from 27 to 29 October 2026 in Naivasha, Kenya. Eligible applicants must be affiliated with a civil society or community-based organisation working in relevant fields and must be from one of the following countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda or Uganda.

LPI will cover the costs associated with participation, including travel, accommodation and meals, making the opportunity fully funded for selected participants. Interested organisations and eligible representatives are encouraged to submit their applications by 30 August 2026.

Benefits: Selected participants will have their participation costs fully covered by the Life & Peace Institute (LPI), including travel, accommodation and meals. Participants will also strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in applying the African Union Transitional Justice Policy, gain insights into peacebuilding, reconciliation, human rights and governance approaches, and connect with civil society and community-based organisations working across the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes regions.
