We are currently living in a time where various crises, such as diplomatic, health, societal, economic, and environmental issues, are converging. Education plays a crucial role in addressing these crises and equipping people with the necessary skills and behaviors to navigate and ideally prevent similar crises in the future.

The Salzburg Global Center for Education Transformation is dedicated to supporting initiatives that tackle critical and emerging issues in education. We focus on areas such as education leadership, social and emotional skills, creativity, regenerative education, language policy, inclusivity, and education during emergencies. Our goal, aligned with the mission of the Salzburg Global Seminar, is to challenge current and future leaders in shaping a better world where every learner can thrive and reach their full potential.

Since 2023, the Center has been offering three annual writing residencies to facilitate the development and sharing of innovative ideas related to education transformation. Our serene environment at Schloss Leopoldskron provides an inspiring setting for individuals from around the world to work away from the constraints and pressures of their daily lives. It offers the time and space needed to nurture projects and explore new concepts creatively.

The residency package includes a residential stay at Schloss Leopoldskron for up to three weeks, inclusive of meals, as well as travel to and from Salzburg. Residents also have access to the Max Reinhardt Library, Max Reinhardt Office, and other facilities at Schloss Leopoldskron. There is also the opportunity to participate in Salzburg Global Seminar programs taking place during the residency. Residents can connect with thought partners through the local community and our extensive Salzburg Global Fellowship network. Additionally, there are communication and dissemination opportunities, along with the potential for collaboration with other Salzburg Global programs and Fellows.

In return, we kindly request our writers in residence to acknowledge the support of the Salzburg Global Seminar and produce at least one article of 600 to 800 words to be published on the Transforming Education Channel hosted with Diplomatic Courier.
