FULLY FUNDED: Apply For The COP31 Climate Change Media Partnership Reporting Fellowship 2026 for Journalists

Applications are open for the COP31 Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) Reporting Fellowship 2026, a fully funded opportunity for journalists from low- and middle-income countries to report from the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP31) in Antalya, Türkiye. The fellowship is organized by the Climate Change Media Partnership, led by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security. Selected fellows will receive comprehensive support to attend and cover one of the world’s most important climate policy events while gaining access to mentorship, training, networking opportunities, and expert guidance. COP31 is scheduled to take place from 9–20 November 2026 in Antalya, Türkiye.

Program Benefits
The fellowship is fully funded and covers economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel medical insurance, and ground transportation related to participation in the program. Fellows will receive extensive editorial support from experienced climate journalists, access to training workshops before and during COP31, mentorship opportunities, and resources to strengthen their reporting. Fellows will also participate in daily briefings, networking activities, and interviews with high-level officials and climate experts attending the summit.

Participants will benefit from direct exposure to international climate negotiations while building professional networks with journalists from around the world. The fellowship is designed to improve climate journalism and ensure that perspectives from low- and middle-income countries are represented in global climate discussions.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be professional journalists working for established media organizations and reporting from eligible low- and middle-income countries. For the first time, the fellowship is also accepting creator journalists who use journalistic practices and digital platforms to produce climate-related content for audiences. Applicants must not have previously attended a UNFCCC climate COP in person, whether self-funded or through another fellowship. They must be available to travel to Antalya, Türkiye, and attend the full two weeks of COP31. A strong command of English is required, along with demonstrated experience covering climate change, climate policy, or related environmental issues.

Candidates are expected to submit an up-to-date CV, a short video explaining their proposed COP31 coverage plans, a letter of support from an editor, producer, supervisor, or media outlet confirming publication of their work, and at least three recent climate-related journalistic work samples. Applicants should also present a clear and detailed reporting plan outlining the stories they intend to pursue during the conference.
Eligible Countries
Journalists and creator journalists reporting from eligible low- and middle-income countries worldwide are encouraged to apply. Specific country eligibility is determined by the fellowship organizers.
