FULLY FUNDED : Apply for the EJN Data journalism Network workshop

Applications are now open for the EJN Data journalism Network workshop for reporters covering South Africa's Net zero transition.

This five-day course will aid South African journalists in better comprehending Net Zero, how the nation is doing in terms of its decarbonization objectives, and how efforts are being made to create a just transition. The workshop will put a strong emphasis on data journalism with the goal of fostering data literacy and advising journalists on how to use and incorporate data into their work in order to produce hard-hitting and significant stories. No prior data journalism experience is necessary.

Over View

The net zero objective for South Africa is one of the most difficult worldwide decarbonization projects, but there are also significant costs associated with inaction, according to a recent analysis by Climate Pathways and Just Transition.

What obstacles will South Africa have to overcome? What official and informal effects will coal have on nearby communities? What are the just transition policies' implementation procedures and evaluation criteria? Investigating these issues and casting light on the responses require journalists.
