FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme – Climate Resilience Fellowships (KCFP-CRF)

Applications are now open for the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme – Climate Resilience Fellowships (KCFP-CRF), a prestigious and fully funded one-year professional development programme managed by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) and inspired by King Charles III.

This fellowship aims to support mid-career professionals working on the frontline of climate adaptation and resilience in Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Through a blend of online learning, an immersive residential training, and a workplace-based applied project, the programme equips fellows with the practical knowledge, leadership skills, and networks needed to advance climate resilience in their home countries.

Additional Information

Host Institution
The fellowship is hosted and administered by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) under the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme initiative.
Program Type
Fully Funded
Program Benefits
The King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme offers a fully funded and transformative learning experience that supports fellows both professionally and academically. Selected participants will undertake an intensive one-year blended programme that includes an eighteen-week online course running from February to July 2026. This course covers a wide range of critical topics such as climate literacy, inter-sectoral collaboration, influencing policy, and climate finance. Fellows will then take part in a five-day in-person residential workshop in Fiji in August 2026, which provides an opportunity to connect with experts, share experiences, and gain deeper insights into practical approaches for climate resilience.

Following the residential phase, fellows will implement a five-month applied learning project at their workplace between August and December 2026. This project will allow them to apply new knowledge directly within their professional contexts and contribute tangible outcomes to their institutions or communities. All costs related to the programme — including travel, accommodation, visas, and participation fees — are fully covered. In addition, fellows will gain access to a vibrant virtual Community of Practice that fosters collaboration and continued learning across regions. The programme is also working toward formal academic accreditation, potentially resulting in a Postgraduate Certificate upon completion.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the King’s Commonwealth Fellowship Programme, applicants must be mid-career professionals who have accumulated approximately five to fifteen years of experience in climate adaptation, sustainability, or related fields. They must demonstrate a strong and ongoing commitment to advancing climate resilience in their communities and have a clear professional trajectory that aligns with long-term work in the field — typically spanning ten to twenty years. Applicants must also be citizens of, or hold refugee status in, one of the eligible Commonwealth Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and must have their permanent home in that country. Additionally, they are required to be employed by an organisation registered in the eligible country with a valid contract extending at least until February 2027.

This fellowship is strictly open to professionals from the following Commonwealth SIDS: Mauritius and Seychelles in Africa; Maldives in Asia; Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean and Americas; and Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu in the Pacific.
