The Africa Union Commission, in partnership with the Kofi Annan Foundation, initiated the Africa CDC – Kofi Annan Global Health Leadership Programme on May 25, 2020. This groundbreaking program seeks to equip senior public health professionals from African Union Member States with advanced skills to strategically manage transformative public health programs across the continent.

Program Synopsis
Approved by the Africa CDC Governing Board in March 2018, the program targets aspiring leaders dedicated to establishing a new public health paradigm in Africa. These leaders will mentor the next generation of public health professionals. The program has made notable strides, graduating 39 Fellows from over 20 AU Member States, with 20 more currently undergoing training.

Accomplishments and Influence
Alumni of the Kofi Annan Fellowship have made tangible contributions by leading national programs, initiating leadership endeavors within their institutions, and assuming governmental ministerial roles. The program's far-reaching impact is evident, with fellows actively shaping the healthcare landscape across the continent.

Cohort 4 Applications
The application window for the 4th Cohort of the Fellowship program is open, with submissions accepted until January 30, 2024. Africa CDC encourages diverse applications from all AU Member States. Cohort 4 introduces a Mental Health track, welcoming applications from Public Mental Health Professionals. Women in senior positions within Government Ministries and National Public Health Institutes (NPHIs) are strongly encouraged to apply.
