Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 Sustainable Innovation Accelerator Programme by L’Oréal Groupe. As the global leader in the beauty industry, L’Oréal is taking bold steps toward a more environmentally responsible future by launching this initiative to discover, support, and scale game-changing innovations that drive sustainability forward.

In collaboration with the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and its Canopy innovation platform, the programme is focused on identifying and implementing impactful technologies that can help transform the cosmetics sector. With a long-standing reputation for embracing innovation, L’Oréal aims to bridge critical gaps in sustainability by working closely with companies that are ready for real-world deployment.

The initiative is open to startups, SMEs, scale-ups, and established businesses from all over the world whose solutions are at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 7 or above. Applicants must present solutions that resonate with one or more priority innovation themes, such as environmentally conscious business models, carbon-reducing technologies, water stewardship, natural-based approaches, novel materials and ingredients, eliminating fossil-based plastic use, and promoting circular economy principles.

Selected participants will enter a support programme lasting up to 12 months, starting with an intensive 12-week group acceleration experience led by CISL’s innovation experts to prepare for piloting. Additionally, participants will benefit from personalized mentorship, with up to 12 hours of coaching by professionals from sustainability, industry, and innovation sectors. The programme also offers opportunities for collaborative learning through virtual or in-person sessions with peers.

There is also the potential for selected ventures to engage in pilot collaborations with L’Oréal, which could lead to commercial partnerships or investment, depending on the outcomes. By combining CISL’s knowledge in sustainable development with L’Oréal’s global presence in beauty and cosmetics, the programme aims to nurture scalable solutions that can make a meaningful impact across the industry.
