Applications are now open for young people and youth organizations to participate in the fifth Youth Forum taking place during UNCCD COP17 in Ulaanbaatar.

Organized alongside the global conference of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, the Youth Forum will be held from 18–19 August 2026 under the COP17 theme, “Restoring Land, Restoring Hope.”

The initiative aims to strengthen youth engagement in land restoration, drought resilience, sustainable agriculture, and environmental policy processes while promoting opportunities for young eco- and agri-preneurs worldwide.

About the Youth Forum

The UNCCD Youth Forum serves as a global platform for young leaders to:

• Engage in discussions on land degradation and drought resilience
• Contribute to international environmental policy processes
• Exchange ideas with youth advocates, policymakers, and experts
• Promote sustainable land management solutions
• Advocate for youth-inclusive climate and environmental policies

The forum builds on previous successful editions organized during earlier UNCCD COP conferences.

Who Can Apply?

The call is open to:

• Youth representatives nominated by UNCCD Youth Accredited Organizations
• Individual young applicants seeking to participate independently

• Young people already planning to attend COP17 in Mongolia
• Applicants seeking partial financial support to participate in the Youth Forum and COP17 activities
