FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the UNDP Africa Regional Cybersecurity Training Programme for young changemakers from West and Central Africa
Applications are officially open for the 2025 edition of the UNDP Africa Regional Cybersecurity Training Program. This initiative, led by the Give1Project in partnership with Concordia University and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is looking to bring together 150 motivated young individuals from across West and Central Africa for the second round of this specialized training opportunity.
Originally launched in 2023 with a pilot class of 22 participants—many of whom have since secured employment or are now leading innovative tech initiatives—the program is scaling up significantly to reach a broader pool of emerging cybersecurity talents in 2025.
Participants will undergo a structured learning experience that blends virtual instruction with hands-on, in-person sessions where possible. In areas where access to technology is limited, designated community hubs will be outfitted with internet and computer access to enable full participation in online courses and personalized mentorship. Additionally, five participants from each participating nation will be chosen to receive further training, equipping them to mentor their peers and lead capacity-building efforts within their own communities.
To qualify, candidates must be aged between 18 and 35 and be citizens of one of the 24 countries in West and Central Africa. Applicants should either be currently enrolled in or have completed higher education from a university or technical school. A demonstrated passion for cybersecurity, along with basic knowledge of the field and a willingness to pursue it as a career or entrepreneurial path, is essential. Fluency in either French or English is also required, along with possession of a valid national ID or passport.
Those selected will gain practical knowledge in cybersecurity, benefit from mentorship by industry professionals, and have opportunities to connect with a network of experts. Upon finishing the program, participants will receive certification and may be guided toward internships, job placements, or business ventures in the tech sector. The most outstanding trainees will also be empowered to become community leaders and future trainers within the program.
