Applications are open for the University of Tokyo MEXT Scholarship 2024 in Japan.

The Ministry of Education, sports, culture, science, and Technology is funding a fully funded MEXT scholarship for international students to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Tokyo.

This scholarship covers tuition, travel costs, and allowances, offering an excellent opportunity to pursue higher degrees abroad.

The MEXT scholarship is available for students in various fields such as Agricultural and Life Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Economics, Education, Engineering, Frontier Sciences, Humanities and Sociology, Information Science and Technology, Interdisciplinary Information Studies, Law and Politics, Mathematical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Policy, and Science.

Master's Degree program Length: 2 Years & 3 years for the doctoral program

The MEXT Japan Scholarship 2024 requires an application form, research plan, letter of recommendation, passport photo, official transcript, language proficiency score, thesis abstract, graduation statement, and passport copy. The documents must be in Japanese or English, A4 format, duplex printing, and not returned.

Program Benefits

With an additional stipend for research students, the MEXT Japanese Government Scholarship 2024 provides students with a monthly allowance of 144,000 yen for Master's programs and 145,000 yen for Doctoral programs. The opportunity to study in Japan and experience Japanese culture is made possible by the exemption of travel and tuition costs.

Eligibility Criteria

For the MEXT Japan Scholarship 2024, candidates will be suggested by the Graduate School of Science. Candidates must be international, born after 1989, have finished the prerequisite coursework for master's and PhD degrees, be fluent in English or Japanese, enter Japan with a student status, be in good bodily and mental health, and arrive on the designated date. They must also have a grade point average of 2.30 or better. Former recipients of scholarships are ineligible.

Application Procedure

To apply for the University of Tokyo MEXT Scholarship 2024 in Japan, applicants must complete their admission application to the Graduate School of Science, submit required documents in English or Japanese, and submit tracking receipt before the scholarship deadline.
