Applications are now invited for the prestigious 2025 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship Program, a initiative launched by the Canadian government in 2008 to attract and retain top doctoral talent and establish Canada as a global hub for research and academic excellence. Vanier scholars excel in leadership, academic achievement, and research in various fields, including social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health sciences.

To be considered for this esteemed scholarship, candidates must meet the following criteria:

- Be nominated by a Canadian institution with a Vanier CGS quota
- Pursue their first doctoral degree in a program with a significant research component
- Intend to enroll full-time in a doctoral program at the nominating institution
- Have completed no more than 20 months of doctoral studies as of May 1, 2025
- Have achieved a high academic standing, as determined by their institution, in their previous two years of study
- Not have received a doctoral-level scholarship from CIHR, NSERC, or SSHRC

The eligible program must include a substantial research component, leading to a thesis, project, or scholarly publication. Joint programs with a professional degree, such as MD/PhD or MBA/PhD, are also eligible if they have a significant research component.

The application deadline for students is determined by the nominating institution, while the deadline for institutions is October 30, 2024 (20:00 EDT).
