The World Bank Group's Africa regions have opened the application period for the 2024 WBG Africa Fellowship Program. This program is designed for Ph.D. candidates and recent Ph.D. graduates who are nationals of Sub-Saharan Africa. Women candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. The fellowship aims to empower the next generation of African change-makers in development research and policymaking, contributing to poverty reduction in the region.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must be Ph.D. candidates or recent graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa, having completed their Ph.D. within the last three years. The fellowship offers a six-month hands-on experience either at the WBG headquarters in Washington D.C. or a country office. The fellowship period is from January to June 2024, and applicants are required to be available in person during this period.

Accepted fellows will engage in research, economic policy work, technical assistance, and lending operations that align with the WBG's goals of eradicating poverty and promoting shared prosperity.
