FULLY FUNDED: Apply for the YALE Peace Fellowship 2026 for young leaders and changemakers from anywhere in the world

Applications are officially being accepted for the 2026 Yale Peace Fellowship. Across the globe, conflicts are becoming increasingly intricate, with multilateral cooperation facing serious challenges, international norms deteriorating, and global systems under considerable strain. New forces—including the rise of disinformation, climate-related pressures, deepening political divides, and growing social fragmentation—are reshaping how disputes arise, evolve, and must be resolved.

In the midst of these shifting dynamics, there is an urgent need for a new generation of leaders—individuals who are deeply rooted in their contexts, able to navigate uncertainty with skill, and committed to fostering lasting peace within and across fractured communities. The Yale Peace Fellowship, an initiative of the International Leadership Center (ILC) at Yale University, seeks to address this need by bringing together a select group of 16 emerging leaders each year. These participants are actively engaged in preventing conflicts, advancing peacebuilding initiatives, and supporting post-conflict healing. Chosen from diverse sectors—including civil society, diplomacy, politics, faith-based work, and social entrepreneurship—Fellows are recognized for their tangible impact and their dedication to realizing their potential as influential peacebuilders.

Through this fellowship, participants are offered the rare opportunity to step back from their daily work to engage deeply with the complexities of modern conflict. They will strengthen their skills in leadership and negotiation, exchange insights with peers and global experts, and become part of an expanding network of innovative peace leaders working across various regions and disciplines. Designed for professionals at a pivotal stage in their journey, the fellowship provides the space and resources needed to reflect, connect, and prepare for the challenges of building peace in an unpredictable world.

The program features a combination of immersive and interactive experiences. Fellows will take part in a week-long residential seminar at Yale University from April 13 to 17, 2026, and will engage in online discussions every two weeks between January and May 2026. A key highlight is an international learning visit to the United Arab Emirates from February 1 to 5, 2026. This trip will coincide with the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity’s annual ceremony, offering participants a chance to explore pioneering interfaith efforts and engage directly with a diverse global network of mediators and peace advocates.

Ideal candidates will have notable achievements in peace and reconciliation work, a proven record of leadership, and a strong desire to further their professional growth. They should demonstrate a commitment to fostering mutual understanding across cultures and possess fluency in English. Fellows must also be available to fully take part in every element of the program, including both weeks of in-person activities—the UAE study trip in February and the Yale University gathering in April.
