FULLY FUNDED: Apply for this Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship 2024

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship for 2024, established by the Canadian Government in 2008, serves as a prestigious tribute to the legacy of George Philias Vanier. George P. Vanier, a distinguished Canadian soldier and diplomat, held the position of Canada’s Governor-General from 1959 to 1967, leaving an enduring mark on the nation's history. Today, the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships program, often referred to as the "Rhodes Scholarship of Canada," invites exceptionally talented individuals, whether they are Canadian citizens or international students residing in Canada, to embark on an enriching academic journey.

This esteemed scholarship program aims to support outstanding minds that not only demonstrate exceptional academic achievements but also exhibit leadership qualities. It encompasses a wide range of disciplines, including social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, engineering, and health-related fields. The selection process is meticulous, considering three equally important criteria: academic excellence, research potential, and leadership capabilities. Importantly, there are no interviews for nominated scholars; instead, the selection committee evaluates applicants based on the submitted documents.

The Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship program has a distinctive approach. Canadian institutions are allocated a specific number of Vanier CGS awards, and applicants must apply to their chosen universities while expressing their intention to seek the Vanier Canadian Government grant for their Ph.D. program. The nomination of candidates for this prestigious scholarship is conducted by these institutions. Detailed guidelines and relevant links are provided to simplify the application process for both readers and applicants.

Administered by key Canadian government agencies, namely the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the National Science and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships offer recipients an annual grant of $50,000 for a duration of three years. Each year, this program supports up to 166 scholars, fostering a vibrant and innovative academic environment in Canadian universities while contributing to the intellectual growth of the country.
