The World Bank Group's Africa Region has launched the 2025 Africa Fellowship Program, inviting applications from Ph.D. candidates and recent graduates from Sub-Saharan Africa. This initiative aims to empower the next generation of African leaders in development research, policy-making, and poverty reduction. The program seeks talented young Africans who have recently completed or are nearing completion of their Ph.D. in a field relevant to the World Bank's mission.
The fellowship offers a six-month assignment at World Bank offices in Washington D.C. or country offices, providing hands-on experience in operations, knowledge generation, policy design, and institution building. Fellows will contribute to research, economic policy, technical assistance, and lending operations that support the World Bank's goals of poverty reduction and shared prosperity.
Successful applicants will:
- Spend six months at World Bank headquarters or a country office (in-person attendance required from January-June 2025)
- Work on research, policy, technical assistance, and lending operations that support poverty reduction and shared prosperity
Note: Women are strongly encouraged to apply. Consultant fees and round-trip economy air travel to Washington D.C. or a World Bank country office will be provided to fellows.
