FULLY FUNDED: Apply to the 2024 cohort of the Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellowship (Nairobi 2024)
The Charles R. Wall Young African Policy Fellows program aims to cultivate a cadre of young professionals equipped with comprehensive knowledge and negotiation skills in international environmental governance. Targeting Africans aged 20 to 35 residing in Africa, the program seeks individuals with a minimum of 2 years of commitment to conservation, particularly in policy engagement.
The 9-month program, commencing in April and concluding in December 2024, accommodates 15 fellows from diverse backgrounds. Fully funded, it encompasses monthly virtual workshops, a week-long session in Nairobi in June, participation in a major international policy conference (such as IPBES, UN Biodiversity, or UN Climate Change), and networking opportunities with industry experts. Thematic training areas span from an introduction to biodiversity and contemporary conservation issues to in-depth exploration of Multilateral Environmental Agreements and current strategic plans guiding global efforts, including the Convention on Biological Diversity and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Fellows will also delve into the negotiation, adoption, and implementation processes of these agreements at regional and national levels. The ultimate goal is to empower participants to contribute effectively to policy formulation and review processes on environmental governance.
