Fully Funded : Check out this Eurasia in a Geopolitical Globalised World Workshop

To assist participants in understanding international order in the context of the conflict between globalisation and geopolitics, the OSCE Academy is accepting applications for its workshop, Eurasia in a Geopolitical Globalised World.

Many academics and decision-makers hailed the end of the Cold War as the start of a new era in international relations, one in which shared interests resulting from the ever more extensive and intense flows of capital, ideas, goods, and services in a globalised world would supersede the logic of power politics and spheres of influence. The nineteenth-century drive to dominate and expand power over territory persisted, yet it was out of step with a world where markets could provide the same benefits at lower costs and with positive total outcomes for everyone.

The urge to dominate territory and be a member of an open global economy are increasingly at odds in today's international system, and nowhere is this more evident than in Eurasia. The world of international relations and policymakers is one of growing economic nationalism and vast supply chains; it is a world of transnational movements of people, capital, goods, and ideas, but it also demands border closures.

The continent of Eurasia has consistently been at the forefront of debates on the nature of their international order. It seeks to investigate various problems and concerns where there may be more obvious friction. These include controlling borders, food, water, energy security, and climate change. The workshop's main focus will be on the policy issues brought up and some potential outcomes for.

Topics:

This workshop aims to investigate the various perspectives available for comprehending the swiftly evolving global system. To achieve end, it will examine a variety of issues and cases throughout Eurasia, with a focus on Central Asia. These could cover the following subjects:
In a globalised geopolitical environment, the geopolitics of energy and the environment
Geopolitics of Human Rights and Democracy in a Globalised Geopolitical Environment
The Water's Geopolitics
In a world where geopolitics is globalised, geopolitics and security governance
Geopolitics and regional integration
In a globalised geopolitical environment, the geopolitics of borders

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 05-Jun-2024.
