Logo Design Challenge by the African Space Agency (AfSA)

About the African Space Agency

Created by the African Union (AU), AfSA was established to oversee Africa’s space initiatives, streamline collaborations with international partners, and implement the continent’s Outer Space Programme. Its mission includes fostering innovation, enhancing socio-economic development, and addressing pressing global challenges such as environmental sustainability, disaster mitigation, and resource management through space technology.

AfSA is gearing up for its official debut during the NewSpace Africa Conference 2025, scheduled to take place in Cairo from April 21 to 24, 2025. A key highlight of this event will be the unveiling of a logo designed through this competition, serving as a visual representation of AfSA’s commitment to advancing space exploration in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to individuals aged 18 to 29 who are citizens of African Union member states. Applicants can include seasoned graphic designers, novice artists, students, or any young African with a passion for creativity.

Key Design Requirements

•Participants must incorporate the African Union’s official colors into their submissions.

•Entries should be original and innovative, reflecting AfSA’s values and aspirations.

•Designers must submit an editable PDF or AI file of their logo, accompanied by a short explanation detailing its elements and their significance.

Prize Package for the Winner

•A fully sponsored trip to Cairo, Egypt, to attend the NewSpace Africa Conference 2025.

•Complimentary access to the conference and a special invitation to AfSA’s inauguration.
