FULLY FUNDED TO COP30 BRAZIL: Apply to be a European Economic and Social Committee youth delegate at the COP30 in Brazil

Applications are open for the European Economic and Social Committee’s (EESC) Youth Delegate to COP programme, a unique opportunity for young leaders passionate about climate action and sustainability. This prestigious role offers a chance to represent youth voices in critical global discussions, working alongside influential policymakers and experts at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Conferences of the Parties (COP).

Since 2021, the EESC has included a youth delegate in its delegation to COP meetings, ensuring that the perspectives of younger generations are heard in high-level decision-making. This two-year programme is designed to empower young changemakers by providing them with a platform to contribute to strategic discussions, participate in key events, and influence policies shaping the future of our planet. The selected delegate will work closely with the EESC’s Ad Hoc Group on COP, attend major conferences, and collaborate with youth networks like Generation Climate Europe, the European Youth Forum, YOUNGO, and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network.

Before attending the COPs, the youth delegate will play an active role in preparatory meetings and strategy sessions. These discussions are critical to shaping the EESC’s contributions to international negotiations on climate and biodiversity. During the COP missions, which usually last around five days, the delegate will join the official EESC delegation, participate in events, and engage with civil society organizations, youth leaders, and other stakeholders to amplify the youth perspective.

The experience doesn’t end with the conferences. After each mission, the delegate will take part in debriefing sessions, evaluating the outcomes and helping to plan next steps. At the end of their term, they will prepare a detailed report summarizing their achievements and insights from the programme, contributing to the smooth onboarding of their successor.

This is more than just a role; it’s an opportunity to make a tangible impact. With travel and accommodation expenses fully covered, as well as a daily allowance provided, the programme is designed to ensure the delegate can focus entirely on their work without financial burden.

If you are aged between 18 and 30, a citizen and resident of an EU Member State, actively involved in a youth organization, fluent in English (and ideally another EU language), and available to dedicate a few hours each month over two years, this programme could be the perfect fit for you. Gender balance, geographical diversity, and representation from a wide range of organizations are key priorities in the selection process, so everyone has a fair shot at this incredible opportunity.

Applications close soon, so don’t wait to take the first step toward becoming a youth delegate for climate action. This is your chance to bring your voice to the global stage, contribute to meaningful discussions, and help shape a more sustainable and equitable future. Apply now and be part of the change!
