FULLY FUNDED TO EGYPT : Apply for the 2025 American University Cairo (AUC) Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate Fellowship Program
The Tomorrow’s Leaders Graduate (TLG) program is a partnership between the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA/AC), and The American University in Cairo (AUC). This initiative empowers academically talented, economically disadvantaged students by providing the skills and professional experience necessary for advancing knowledge and driving socially impactful outcomes. The program focuses on graduate studies and research that help shape emerging leaders and foster locally-driven solutions to challenges in the MENA region.
TLG offers MENA students a distinctive chance to earn a master's degree at AUC in one of the following programs:
- MA in Gender and Women’s Studies (GNST)
- MA in International and Comparative Education (ICED)
- MA in Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS)
- MA in Economics in International Development (ECID)
- MA in Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC)
- Master of Public Policy (MPP)
- Master of Public Administration (MPA)
- MA in Middle East Studies (MEST)
- MA in International Human Rights Law (IHRL)
- MS in Sustainable Development (SSDV)
- MA in Sociology/Anthropology (SOAN)
- MA in Political Science (POLS)
- MS in Biotechnology (BIOT)
- MS in Environmental Engineering (ENVE)
TLG Students’ Responsibilities:
- Maintain full-time enrollment during the entire graduate program.
- Complete the degree within two years from the start of admission.
- Keep a minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Dedicate themselves to their selected research projects.
- Complete a TLG academic English writing course successfully.
- Participate in assigned leadership and civic engagement workshops throughout the program.
- Attend TLG graduate student conferences.
- Adhere to all activities outlined in the TLG program manual.

Additional Information

6. Possibility of an internship or practicum, with local transportation expenses included if necessary
7. The chance to present research findings at a conference that is competitively granted in accordance with the Graduate Student Support Grant rules
8. Two round-trip economy tickets from home to campus each year, or a living and housing allowance to continue authorised program activities on campus during breaks for students who are unable to go home due to uncontrollable conditions
9. Allowance for books
- Hold citizenship in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Libya, Tunisia, Yemen, Syria, Bahrain, the West Bank, or Gaza.
- Satisfy AUC’s graduate admission criteria.
- Show strong academic potential, holding a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- Be proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Demonstrate maturity, adaptability, and leadership abilities through extracurricular activities, recommendation letters, and interviews.
- Show financial need. Applicants should be from economically disadvantaged or underrepresented backgrounds and must complete the Tomorrow’s Leaders Application Financial Statement. For further details, refer to the FHI360 FAQs.
