FULLY FUNDED TO GERMANY : Apply for the 2026 Maritime Law Training Programme
Marawa Research and Exploration Ltd. has launched its 2026 training programme, offering two fully funded places for early-career professionals from developing countries. Selected participants will attend the renowned International Foundation for the Law of the Sea (IFLOS) Summer Academy in Hamburg, Germany—an intensive programme hosted annually at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.
This initiative is designed to build legal and technical capacity in the governance of ocean resources, with a strong focus on public international law and maritime affairs.
About the Training
The IFLOS Summer Academy brings together experts, practitioners, and young professionals for four weeks of deep engagement with:

Maritime legislation

Dispute settlement

Governance of marine resources
The 2026 session is expected to take place between July and August. Exact dates will be announced by the Academy and shared with successful applicants in advance..
Responsibilities of Selected Trainees
Selected individuals will be required to:

Sign the ISA Contractors’ Training Programme Code of Conduct

Submit a final report within four weeks of completing the programme

Provide a follow-up report to the International Seabed Authority five years later, detailing how the training impacted their career

Participate fully in all scheduled programme activities
A certificate of completion will be awarded at the end of the training.

- Academic Background
- A master’s degree (LL.M. or equivalent) in public international law, law of the sea, or maritime law.
- Applicants with a bachelor’s degree may be considered if they are completing a master’s programme or have relevant professional duties.
Professional Experience
- At least 3 years of experience related to international maritime law or ocean governance.
Skills & Attributes
- Demonstrated interest in the law of the sea or public international law
- Strong academic or professional grounding in maritime issues
- Excellent command of English (proof may be required)
