Fully Funded to Germany for the One Young World 2025 Summit : Apply for the Enterprising Futures Scholarship 2025
By 2030, it is estimated that over 2 billion young people will be seeking employment and opportunities, making underemployment and the lack of opportunities a major socio-economic and security challenge. Youth unemployment has been linked to feelings of social exclusion, anxiety, and hopelessness, and, at its worst, can lead to poverty, extremism, political instability, and crime. Therefore, finding solutions to this issue is crucial for building a peaceful, sustainable, and equitable future. Local entrepreneurs play a vital role in this by creating jobs and providing employment opportunities for youth within their communities.
Young entrepreneurs are especially important in fragile and conflict-affected states. In these areas, young people often turn to entrepreneurship to create opportunities for themselves and their communities. Their ability to navigate uncertainty, exacerbated by fragile ecosystems, can be a powerful source of innovation. Digital and social innovations are increasingly common in the workforce, helping youth adapt to changing circumstances.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) is committed to investing in education and youth employment to improve opportunities for young people, particularly in developing countries and fragile states, by bridging the gap between the skills they acquire and the demands of the labor market.
To support this mission, the Dutch Enterprise Agency (RVO), on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), is launching their annual scholarship in partnership with One Young World. This scholarship offers young leaders and entrepreneurs from these countries a chance to attend the One Young World Summit.
The One Young World Summit 2025 will bring together 2,000 young leaders from over 190 countries in Munich, where they will discuss and present solutions to the most pressing global challenges alongside senior leaders. This experience will provide young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to engage, expand successful initiatives, and connect with other changemakers worldwide.
Note: The Dutch MFA seeks candidates who are running or part of a scalable start-up/SME with proven social and/or environmental impact, either as an entrepreneur or in a similar role.
Expectations of Selected Scholars
Previous Enterprising Futures Scholars have contributed to ecosystem mapping, offered advice on new initiatives, and shared their experiences at various events organized by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its partners. The Dutch MFA aims to expand its network of young role models and entrepreneurs in Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, upon selection, scholars' contact details may be shared with Dutch embassies in eligible countries. Active participation throughout the program is expected from selected candidates.
Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 2 March 2025.
