Fully Funded To Japan : Apply For The NOPTREX Summer Internship in Japan – IRES 2026

Applications are open for the International Research Experiences for Students (IRES) NOPTREX Summer Internship, hosted by the University of Kentucky Research Foundation. This program will run from May to July 2026 at Nagoya University in Japan.

This program offers six undergraduate students the chance to contribute to the Neutron Optics Parity and Time Reversal Experiment (NOPTREX), an initiative focused on exploring the matter–antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The project involves research and development of specialized hardware and experimental systems in the field of nuclear physics.

Program Highlights

  • Extensive individualized training during the 2025–2026 academic year, preparing participants for targeted research tasks in Japan.

  • Weekly virtual collaboration meetings with U.S. peers and Japanese mentors to share progress and refine skills.
