FULLY FUNDED TO NAIROBI : Apply for the African Investigative Journalism Conference Fellowship 2026

Applications are open for French-speaking investigative journalists and media professionals from Francophone African countries to attend the African Investigative Journalism Conference (AIJC) 2026 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The fellowship offers selected journalists an opportunity to participate in one of Africa’s leading investigative journalism gatherings, connect with fellow media professionals, learn from experienced journalists and experts, and develop stories based on insights and material gathered during the conference.

About the Fellowship

The 2026 African Investigative Journalism Conference will take place from 10–12 November 2026 at the Edge Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

The fellowship is intended for investigative journalists and media professionals working in Francophone Africa. Freelance journalists are also encouraged to apply.

Selected fellows will take part in the conference alongside journalists and other media professionals from across the continent, providing opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration around investigative journalism.

Who Can Apply?

The fellowship is open to French-speaking investigative journalists and media professionals based in eligible Francophone African countries, including:

  • Democratic Republic of the Congo

  • Togo

Freelance journalists are eligible to apply.

Applicants should have a demonstrated interest or experience in investigative journalism and must submit a CV highlighting their published work.

Eligibility Criteria
- Be a French-speaking investigative journalist or media professional from an eligible Francophone African country.

- Have a valid passport that remains valid for at least six months after the conference.

-Provide proof of identity.

- Submit a CV that includes details of published journalistic work.

- Be prepared to produce at least one investigative journalism piece inspired by material gathered during the conference.

- The required story may be published online, in print or through broadcast media and must be published within three months after the conference.
