The Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP) provides exceptional students from African nations with the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree at Wageningen University & Research. This initiative aims to enhance capacity-building efforts across Africa by supporting talented and driven individuals. The number of scholarships available is yet to be determined, and the deadline for applications to the MSc programme is set for February 1, 2025. Successful applicants will begin their studies in September 2025.

The scholarship package includes comprehensive support, covering travel expenses to and from the Netherlands, a monthly living stipend for the full 24 months of the programme, complete tuition fee coverage, as well as costs related to visa applications and health insurance.

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet specific criteria. Candidates must hold citizenship from an African country and have submitted their application for a Wageningen University Master’s programme before the specified deadline. They must also gain unconditional admission to their chosen MSc programme. Only those with outstanding academic records—achieving a First-Class honours degree or a GPA of at least 80% during their undergraduate studies—will be considered. Preference is given to applicants who have not yet obtained a Master’s degree. Meeting these requirements is essential to being invited to participate in the selection process.

The selection process operates on an invitation-only basis, meaning students cannot apply for the scholarship directly. The process begins with applicants submitting their MSc programme applications by February 1, 2025. Selected candidates will be notified by March 13, 2025, and invited to proceed to the next stages of evaluation, which involve completing an assignment and potentially attending an online interview. Only around 40 candidates will advance past the initial stage, with approximately 20 invited for interviews.

Key dates include the February 1, 2025, application deadline, March 25, 2025, for assignment submissions, and interview periods running from April 22 to May 1, 2025. Final decisions regarding the selection process will be communicated by May 8, 2025. This timeline ensures a thorough and competitive evaluation to identify the most promising candidates for this prestigious opportunity.
