FULLY FUNDED TO RWANDA: Apply for the International AIDS Society Conference Media Scholarship Programme 2025
Applications are now open for the 2025 IAS Media Scholarship Program, hosted by the International AIDS Society (IAS). This program offers scholarships for both virtual and in-person participation at IAS 2025, the 13th IAS Conference on HIV Science. The event will take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 13 to 17 July 2025, with pre-conference sessions scheduled for 13 July.
Recognized as the world’s leading forum on HIV research and its applications, the IAS Conference on HIV Science is held every two years and serves as a platform to present groundbreaking advancements in basic, clinical, and operational HIV research. The conference aims to bridge the gap between science, policy, and practice, delivering a diverse and innovative program that sets a global benchmark for HIV-related research.
Priority for scholarships will be given to several categories of applicants, including those presenting abstracts selected for the conference, individuals from low- and lower-middle-income countries, members of key populations, people living with HIV, young professionals, and early-career researchers under the age of 35. Applicants who have not received an IAS scholarship for previous conferences will also be prioritized.
For in-person attendees, the scholarship covers full conference registration with access to all sessions, pre-conferences, exhibitions, and on-demand recordings until 19 August 2025. Additional support includes a pre-paid economy-class round-trip ticket from the nearest international airport, hotel accommodation in a single room at a budget hotel, and a daily allowance for living expenses (part of which may include lunch vouchers). For virtual participants, the scholarship provides on-demand access to all conference content, including session recordings, pre-conferences, and e-posters, for the duration of the event and beyond.
Applicants must submit responses detailing their organization or institution, experience in HIV-related work, reasons for attending the conference, and how their participation will benefit their community. A letter of recommendation from a referee familiar with the applicant’s work or studies in the HIV field is also required. This letter must be written in English, include the referee’s organizational letterhead, and be signed and dated within two months of the application submission.
