FULLY FUNDED TO SOUTH KOREA : Apply for the UNFCCC-GIR-CASTT Programme on GHG Inventories 2026

Applications are open for the 2026 UNFCCC–GIR–CASTT Programme on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventories, an intensive international training initiative designed to strengthen climate transparency capacity in developing countries.

The programme is jointly delivered by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Greenhouse Gas Inventory & Research Center of Korea, with support from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Food and Agriculture Organization, and the Australian Government.

Programme Overview

This fully funded training equips climate professionals with technical knowledge and practical tools required to develop and improve national greenhouse gas inventories under international transparency frameworks.

Participants will engage in hands-on learning, collaborative exercises, and country-focused presentations aimed at strengthening reporting systems aligned with global climate commitments.

Training Focus Areas

Participants will explore:

  • Climate transparency arrangements and reporting systems
  • GHG inventory compilation methodologies
  • Sector-specific emissions estimation approaches
  • Practical group exercises and peer learning sessions
  • Country presentations and knowledge exchange

The training particularly supports professionals contributing to Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs).

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants should meet the following requirements:

- Government officials, consultants, or researchers from developing countries

- Active involvement in climate transparency or GHG inventory work

- Priority given to practitioners supporting BTR preparation
Entry- to mid-career professionals

- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification
Intermediate or advanced English proficiency (online interview required)
Intermediate IT skills

- Relevant experience in climate change response, emissions accounting, or environmental reporting is strongly encouraged.
