The World Heritage Residence Scholarship offered by Gävleborg, Sweden, centered around the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland, aims to foster global connections and cooperation, aligning with UNESCO's vision of promoting peace through cultural exchange. By inviting individuals worldwide, this scholarship encourages innovative projects that link Hälsingland's heritage with other World Heritage sites, spanning diverse creative disciplines such as research, art, conservation, film, dance, storytelling, and more. The scholarship comprises a one-month residency at a Hälsingland farm and financial support of approximately 4,500 Euros (50,000 SKR) for living expenses tied to the proposed project. Applicants are encouraged to articulate their project's concept, emphasizing its connection to World Heritage sites while drawing inspiration from Hälsingland's iconic farmhouses. Last year, over 350 applicants from 60 countries showcased a wide array of projects, demonstrating the scholarship's international appeal and the variety of creative avenues explored.
