Ten young, gifted individuals will participate in this two-year competitive programme and gain firsthand experience working on several WIPO activities. Through exposure to IP's technical and strategic facets, the programme enables YEP participants to acquire knowledge and skills that will support the future economic development of their nations and regions.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for career advancement and a leadership programme.

The YEP's goal is to develop IP leaders who can subsequently have an impact locally and globally, rather than serving as a means of recruiting new members to WIPO. As a result, and consistent with previous YEP practices, participants will not be permitted to seek for any positions at WIPO while they are YEPs. In addition, participants will not be permitted to work for or at WIPO for the two years that follow the conclusion of their YEP participation.
