FULLY FUNDED TO TANZANIA: Apply for the UONGOZI Institute Women’s Leadership Programme for senior and young female leaders and Changemakers from Africa
Applications are now open for the 2025 edition of the Uongozi Institute’s Leadership Programme for Women. This initiative is tailored to support women in both rising and established leadership roles, helping them overcome workplace barriers that commonly prevent them from attaining top-level positions. It is designed to strengthen their decision-making capabilities, improve the way they manage people and resources, and boost their overall leadership presence.
The term “Uongozi” is derived from Kiswahili and translates to “leadership.” True to its name, the Institute was created with a mission to nurture visionary and responsible leaders who can drive sustainable development across Tanzania and the African continent. Founded by the Tanzanian government in 2010, the Institute focuses on building leadership capacity to meet the continent’s development challenges with practical, inclusive solutions.
The programme is open to African women who have been working in leadership, managerial, or supervisory roles for at least five years, and who have accumulated no less than seven years of professional experience overall. Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution of higher learning.
Participants will gain deeper insight into strategic leadership and refine their ability to lead themselves, others, and organizations effectively. The training aims to increase the capacity to turn vision into action, communicate powerfully, and champion transformative change. Additionally, the programme equips participants with tools for achieving a healthy balance between professional responsibilities and personal well-being while navigating leadership roles.
Thanks to generous support from the governments of Tanzania and Finland, along with funding from the European Union, selected candidates will benefit from fully sponsored scholarships. These awards cover all associated programme costs, including tuition, learning materials, transportation, meals, and accommodation during face-to-face sessions. Participants also gain access to Uongozi Institute’s Resource Centre as part of the package.
