FUNDED: Apply for the Award Climate Action Fellowship 2025 for African women Changemakers
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 edition of the AWARD Climate Action Fellowship. This program is dedicated to advancing the role of African women in driving effective responses to climate change while supporting the development of practical climate solutions tailored to the needs of women smallholder farmers. The fellowship focuses on empowering women professionals to overcome systemic gender barriers and to strengthen their technical expertise and leadership capacity in the climate sector.
This initiative is aimed at talented African women who are currently engaged in various areas of climate adaptation. The current call targets individuals from Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Senegal who are already making meaningful contributions in their respective fields and are eager to champion gender-responsive climate solutions. Eligible participants include women from different career stages, working across diverse sectors such as policy, research, civil society, academia, and the private sector. Applicants are expected to have a minimum of five years of experience in climate-related work, whether through advocacy, technical support, knowledge sharing, community organizing, or policy development.
Those selected will participate in a one-year immersive learning journey modeled after the successful AWARD Fellowship format. This non-residential program combines virtual and in-person activities and is designed to accelerate careers through training in leadership, gender integration, negotiation, and mentorship. Participants will also be guided in designing and leading collaborative research or innovation projects addressing gender and climate adaptation, gaining practical experience in applying inclusive climate strategies.
Although the program does not offer financial compensation or per diems, it covers essential participation-related expenses. Fellows will benefit from continuous coaching, mentorship, and access to an expansive network of professionals, institutions, and climate experts across Africa. Additional components include exposure to global trends in climate and agriculture, opportunities for public speaking at notable events, and engagement in local outreach and role-modeling activities.
Upon successful completion of the program, fellows will receive a certificate and join a distinguished pan-African network of alumni contributing to transformative change in climate adaptation, food systems, and policy across the continent.
