FUNDED : Apply for the IGAD Regional Training of Trainers on Gender-Sensitive Digital Trade 2026 in Kenya
Applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Regional Training of Trainers (ToTs) on Gender-Sensitive Digital Trade organized by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development under the Horn of Africa Digital Market Integration (HDMI) Project Phase I. The programme will bring together women and youth-led MSMEs from across IGAD Member States for an intensive regional training scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from 6–8 July 2026.
The initiative is designed to strengthen inclusive participation in digital trade by equipping participants with practical skills in e-commerce, digital finance, online marketing, entrepreneurship, and access to regional and international markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). Participants will also be introduced to the Gender Action Learning System (GALS) methodology to help address barriers affecting women’s involvement in digital economies.
The training seeks to create a network of Gender Champions who will later support women and youth entrepreneurs in their home countries through mentorship, local trainings, and digital trade advocacy.
Programme Focus Areas
Selected participants will gain practical knowledge in:
- Gender-sensitive digital trade approaches
- E-commerce and online business development
- Digital financial services
- Digital marketing strategies
- Business management skills
- Online safety and cybersecurity awareness
- Cross-border trade opportunities under AfCFTA
- Mentorship and training methodologies using GALS
Training Format
The programme will be delivered in two phases:
- A three-day in-person residential workshop in Nairobi, Kenya
- Follow-up virtual learning and networking sessions through IGAD online platforms
