FUNDED : Nominations are open for the International Science Council (ISC) Fellowship 2026
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2026 Fellowship offered by the International Science Council (ISC). The Fellowship recognises individuals whose work has significantly strengthened science as a global public good and contributed to advancing evidence-based solutions across societies.
The initiative celebrates influential scientists, innovators, and science-policy leaders who promote international collaboration and expand the global impact of research.
About the Fellowship
Launched in 2022, the ISC Fellowship honours distinguished contributors from both natural and social sciences, as well as individuals shaping science-policy dialogue worldwide. Fellows are selected not only for past achievements but also for their continued leadership in strengthening science’s role in addressing global challenges.
New Fellows for the 2026 intake will be officially announced in July 2026.
Fellowship Objectives
The programme aims to recognise individuals who have demonstrated excellence in areas such as:

Providing leadership within international or regional scientific communities

Strengthening the global voice of science

Establishing or supporting major scientific initiatives and collaborations

Delivering impactful scientific achievements and innovation
Nomination Routes
Nominations may be submitted through two pathways:
Group A
-
Current ISC Fellows
-
Heads or senior leaders of ISC Member organisations
-
Requires endorsement from two supporting signatories
Group B
-
Members of the ISC Governing Board
-
Leaders of partner international scientific organisations
-
Senior officials from relevant global institutions
-
Requires a single nominator with governing board support
Individuals interested in nomination but not affiliated with ISC Members are encouraged to connect with a relevant ISC Member organisation.

The Fellowship itself is honorary and non-remunerated. However, travel expenses may be supported when Fellows represent ISC activities.

- Special encouragement is given to nominations representing:
- Researchers from low- and middle-income countries

- Balanced gender representation and career stages
