Funding $10,000 (or more) annually : Apply for Seeds of Sustainability Fund Program 2025
Non-profit organizations, community groups or associations, small businesses, and individuals from developing tropical countries are eligible to apply.
Priority Areas
Proposals for Seeds of Sustainability funding should align with one of the following priority areas:
- Habitat and Species Conservation, Both Land and Marine
Examples include establishing protected areas, conservation easements, species recovery initiatives, management activities (such as signage, trails, park guards, invasive species control, waste management, and population monitoring), projects addressing human-wildlife conflicts, and establishing no-take zones. - Restoration, Corridors, and Habitat Connectivity
Examples include tree planting, assisted regeneration, riparian and streamside restoration, coral reef, mangrove forest, or seagrass restoration, and creating urban/suburban greenways and parks. - Agricultural Improvements to Reduce Habitat Loss and Carbon Emissions, or Enhance Biodiversity and Water Quality
Examples include agroforestry and silviculture, fencing and water tanks to keep livestock away from natural areas, organic farming systems, and restoring fencerows. - Environmental Enterprises Focused on Conservation, Especially Those Led by Women, Indigenous People, or Marginalized Groups
Examples include ecotourism, beekeeping, agrotourism, and sustainable packaging or production practices. - Environmental Training or Education on Biodiversity, Sustainability, and the Environment
Examples include the development of communication materials, media campaigns, purchasing of equipment or supplies, honoraria for experts providing training, and creating educational course materials.

Program Benefits
New applicants: A maximum of $5,000 may be requested by anyone submitting their first Seeds of Sustainability grant application.
Partners in Conservation: Upon successfully completing their project, first-time award applicants may be invited to join the Conservation Partner network, which would allow them to apply for grants worth at least $10,000 each year.

Eligibility Criteria
They support the following types of applicants and projects:
- Small to medium-sized organizations
- Community-driven initiatives, or sometimes projects led by an individual
- Conservation efforts that prioritize inclusive community participation
- Projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and CBD Biodiversity Targets
- Bottom-up approaches over top-down methods
- Initiatives in tropical regions, particularly those with high or threatened biodiversity
- Projects where even a small investment can lead to significant impact
**Eligibility Requirements**
To be eligible for a Seeds of Sustainability grant, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Small non-profit organizations, indigenous community groups, schools, small universities, individuals, and local associations (excluding those primarily focused on religious or political activities) are eligible to apply.
- Projects must be located in a tropical country and align with at least one of Ceiba’s Conservation Priorities.
- Non-profit organizations must provide proof of their non-profit status. Other applicants, including individuals, must submit a letter of support from a community leader, government representative, supervisor, or another relevant person not directly involved in the project.
- Individual applicants must show that they have already invested some of their own resources (funds, labor, or materials) in the project’s initiation.
- Only small organizations with annual budgets under $500,000 are eligible to apply.
