Funding :Submit proposals for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction programme of Harnessing Synergies between Climate Change Adapation & Risk Reduction

With pleasure, the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction extends an invitation to eligible organisations to submit their applications for the project "Harnessing synergies between climate change adaptation and risk reduction in migrant-inclusive health system responses."

The overarching goal of the joint programme is to improve awareness of the health effects of climate change among the host and migrant communities in the target countries and to strengthen synergies between CCA and risk reduction in the MENA region by mainstreaming a gender-sensitive human mobility lens into national public health adaptation strategies and DRR strategies.

Result
There are three results from the joint programme. "The target countries demonstrate enhanced coherence towards migrant inclusion between public health strategies and DRR strategies and willingness to share good practices from the programme with other countries in the MENA region." Outcome 2 of this grant is focused on having a new or updated local-level public health adaptation strategy and a DRR strategy that integrate a human mobility lens including a migrant-inclusive approach in the respective target countries and states.

Output 2.3: As a good example of inclusive local-level policy making, policy makers and health institutions can access a local-level resilience strategy that incorporates a gender-responsive and human mobility-sensitive health response approach.

The project include creating a preliminary action plan, comparing it to the disaster resilience scorecard, and creating a local resilience action plan. It also requires working with the UNDRR country focal point and PUNOs to apply the public health system resilience addendum in a chosen city.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 20-Jun-24.

Additional Information

Host Institution
United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction
Program Type
Fully Funded
Program Benefits
For this project, the maximum sum that can be requested from UNDRR is 90,000 (ninety thousand) USD.

Eligibility Criteria
The following factors have been used to identify the target countries, which are Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon: the government's willingness to participate in the joint programme and any related legislative framework; the existence of relevant activities carried out by IOM, WHO, and UNDRR in the nation; the accessibility of the country, both physically and administratively, to carry out the joint programme activities; the country's limited capacity to adapt to climate change; and the existence of the UN Network on Migration (UNNM). Despite having very different features related to human mobility, all three of these nations are extremely vulnerable to climate change.

- To be eligible for cooperation opportunities with UNDRR, all non-governmental organisations, both domestic and international, must register and build a profile on the United Nations Partner Portal (UNPP). Partners will be able to apply for cooperation opportunities with UNDRR, the UN Secretariat, and all other participating UN organisations after the profile information has been verified.
The only registered organisations that can apply for UNDRR grant opportunities are those whose profiles have been satisfactorily vetted.
