GRANTS: Apply for the Disability Rights Fund 2025 for disability rights movements and organizations
Applications are open for the 2025 grant cycle of the Disability Rights Fund (DRF), a long-standing ally in the global movement for disability inclusion. Since 2008, DRF has championed efforts to advance the rights of persons with disabilities through direct financial support to grassroots, national, and regional organizations led by people with disabilities themselves. In alignment with its new vision, “Disability-Led Futures for a Just World,” the fund is welcoming Letters of Interest (LOIs) from a broader and more diverse range of applicants than ever before.
This year marks a major step forward for DRF, as it broadens its geographical scope and places a renewed emphasis on intersectional advocacy. Organizations based in Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia, Haiti, and the Pacific Island Countries are now encouraged to apply. The grants are designed to support one-year projects, with most awards totaling less than US$50,000. While DRF continues to support a wide range of disability rights work, it is especially seeking proposals that link disability advocacy with other areas of social justice. These include movements for gender equality, LGBTQI+ rights, climate action, racial equity, youth empowerment, indigenous rights, and economic justice.
In a unique addition to this round, DRF is encouraging proposals that follow up on the commitments made at the latest Global Disability Summit. Applicants whose work focuses on monitoring or advancing these commitments are invited to emphasize this in their submissions. However, the fund remains open to proposals tackling a wide spectrum of disability rights issues beyond summit-related themes.
Eligible applicants include organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) at grassroots, national, or regional levels, as well as advocacy groups working across different axes of marginalization and identity. LOIs may be submitted in English, French, Portuguese, or Indonesian. To access the application form in one of these languages, applicants should click the globe icon at the top right of the application portal and select their preferred language.
Support is also available for those encountering challenges with the online system or needing assistance in submitting their LOI. Interested applicants can reach out directly to grants@disabilityrightsfund.org for help.
