GRANTS: Apply for the FIFA Gloval Citizen Education Fund are now open
Applications are open for the Global Citizen and FIFA-backed Education Fund, designed to empower grassroots initiatives that expand access to meaningful learning and sports opportunities for young people in marginalized communities. This initiative brings together resources and collaboration to help ensure children everywhere have the chance to develop their skills, discover their potential, and build a brighter future. Eligible community-based organizations are encouraged to apply and take part in creating more inclusive and equitable educational environments worldwide.
Organizations can seek funding for either ongoing operational needs or specific projects that strengthen learning and youth development. Applicants must be local, non-profit entities that directly serve communities ranging from approximately 500 to 10,000 people, with proven legal status in the country where the assistance would be used. The requested funding must remain under half of the organization’s annual operating budget for the year in which the grant would be applied.
Support will be awarded as a one-time grant covering a single year, and those selected will not be invited to reapply in future cycles. Around 150 successful organizations are expected to receive grants in the first distribution phase planned for 2026. Funding amounts will vary from USD $50,000 to $250,000. Any group that submits a complete application will receive confirmation of receipt, and they may be contacted by fund representatives before the end of December 2025 should additional details be needed. Only one proposal may be submitted per organization.
Those chosen for support must be actively delivering programs that increase access to schooling or elevate the quality of education. They will also be required to submit progress updates midway through the grant period as well as a closing report once activities are completed. Although the application form is currently accessible only in English, submissions may be written in other widely spoken languages while translations are still in progress.
Reviewers will prioritize organizations that actively remove barriers keeping children from education, including efforts to reduce economic obstacles, improve school environments and infrastructure, and promote inclusive learning practices. Particular value is placed on programs that advance equal participation for girls, youth with disabilities, and learners with diverse needs. Strong child protection standards must be part of the organization’s framework, ensuring the well-being and safety of every child involved. Applicants must also demonstrate sound financial health, ideally supported by at least three years of validated financial documentation to show accountability and sustainability in managing resources.
Community changemakers focused on transforming education and youth development are encouraged to seize this opportunity and take the next step toward broader impact.
