The 2025 edition of the One World Media Fellowship is now accepting applications. This opportunity is designed specifically for experienced journalists and filmmakers originating from countries in the global south. Whether working in film, written journalism, photography, audio, or multimedia formats, successful candidates will focus on advancing their careers by producing compelling stories rooted in the realities of the global south. The aim is to promote understanding and challenge stereotypes through authentic and imaginative storytelling.

This year, ten individuals will be chosen to join the Fellowship. Some of these spots will include unique funding opportunities offered through collaborations with established media platforms. The Fellowship provides a space for creative growth and exploration, encouraging participants to pursue their next big story idea, uncover new investigative angles, or explore difficult subject matter.

When selecting participants, One World Media considers not only the originality and journalistic value of the story but also the applicant’s access to the story, their capability to complete the project, and the potential personal or professional impact the Fellowship could have on their journey.

Fellows will receive a financial grant ranging from £1,000 to £3,000 to support their reporting. They will also benefit from one-on-one guidance from an Executive Producer, access to training sessions led by industry professionals, and the chance to collaborate with international media organizations. In addition, the Fellowship offers entry into a global network of current and past Fellows, along with membership in the wider One World Media storytelling community.

Applications opened on June 26, 2025, and will close on August 20, 2025. The selected Fellows will be announced in November 2025.
