Contest for the Climate Resilience Awards for Business 2026
Applications are open for the Climate Resilience Awards for Business 2026, an international opportunity recognising businesses that are taking practical action to help communities, operations and value chains adapt to climate change.
The awards are organised by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the Global Resilience Partnership (GRP). Following the success of the first edition in 2025, the 2026 awards will highlight businesses whose adaptation and resilience initiatives are delivering measurable and credible results across different sectors and regions.
About the Climate Resilience Awards
Climate resilience is becoming an increasingly important part of business strategy, yet many adaptation initiatives receive less visibility and investment than climate mitigation efforts.
The Climate Resilience Awards for Business seek to change this by identifying, evaluating and showcasing strong examples of business-led resilience action. The initiative aims to make resilience solutions more visible, measurable, investable and scalable while sharing practical lessons that can encourage wider adoption.
Businesses can submit case studies covering projects ranging from infrastructure investments to community-level programmes, provided they demonstrate tangible resilience outcomes.
Award Categories
Applications are accepted across four categories:
1. Building Climate-Proof Infrastructure
This category recognises initiatives that strengthen the resilience of built assets, facilities, energy systems, transport networks, industrial operations and other critical infrastructure against both acute and long-term climate hazards.
2. Promoting Water Stewardship
This category focuses on efforts addressing water stress and water security, including responses to drought, flooding and other water-related challenges.
Projects may demonstrate how businesses are preventing climate-related disruption or improving the reliability and security of water supplies for businesses and communities.
3. Safeguarding Agriculture & Food Systems
This category highlights initiatives strengthening resilience throughout agriculture and food systems.
Projects may cover areas such as agricultural production, processing, storage, logistics and distribution, particularly where they help protect food security and nutrition from climate-related risks and supply chain disruptions.
4. Protecting People First
This category recognises projects that strengthen the ability of workers, customers, value-chain partners and communities to cope with, adapt to and respond to climate change.
What Makes a Strong Application?
Applicants should focus on real-world action rather than general commitments to sustainability. The submitted case study should clearly demonstrate what was implemented, the climate risk being addressed and the resilience outcomes achieved.
Evidence of measurable and credible results will be particularly important in showing the practical value of the initiative.

- Resilience & Adaptation Implementers
Businesses that are strengthening the resilience and adaptive capacity of their operations, assets, infrastructure, people and value chains.
- Resilience Solution Providers
Businesses offering products, services, technologies, financing or advisory solutions that help clients, customers or other beneficiaries become more resilient to climate change.
- Solution providers are encouraged to demonstrate the impact of their work from the perspective of their clients or beneficiaries, particularly by providing evidence of how the solution has worked in practice.
- SMEs and Large Companies
- Small and medium-sized enterprises compete separately from large companies and multinational organisations within each award category. This approach is intended to provide a fairer basis for comparison between organisations of different scales.
