GRANTS: Apply for the The Youth Climate Justice Fund (up to 10,000 usd)
The Youth Climate Justice Fund provides essential flexible funding to emerging youth climate justice collectives. These groups have the opportunity to request grants of up to USD 10,000, which can be utilized over a span of 12 months.
HOW TO APPLY
What are the criteria for applying?
You should consider applying if:
- Your group or collective is led by individuals aged 35 years and under. To qualify for a YCJF grant, most of your leadership must comprise young individuals, or those with decision-making authority should be 35 years or younger.
- Your group, network, or collective is based in North America or Western Europe but is headed by young people who face discrimination or marginalization based on factors such as class, ethnicity, or background.
- You uphold and demonstrate inclusive organizing, collective action, and movement building that considers intersecting factors. Your group, network, or collective is located in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America, the Caribbean, or Central and Eastern Europe.
- You follow non-partisan, non-violent, and legal approaches in your movements.
We particularly seek groups that:
- Foster diverse leadership rooted in equitable climate action, coupled with community influence.
- Elevate climate and socio-environmental justice goals, raising the bar for commitments.
- Hold policymakers accountable to their promises while bolstering community empowerment.
OUR PROCESS
1. Youth Climate Justice Fund initiates the call
The call is open for 4 weeks, enabling youth climate justice groups worldwide to apply. Non-English speaking groups can approach Regional Leads for assistance in applying in their native languages.
2. YCJF staff screens applications
Applications are reviewed to ensure they meet essential eligibility criteria and align with YCJF's values and principles.
3. Review by Regional Leads
Proposals are assessed according to regional priorities, and groups are contacted to gain a better understanding of their needs.
4. Steering Committee evaluation
Steering committee members rank groups based on YCJF principles, values, and key funding priorities.
5. Due diligence process
YCJF staff and Regional Leads engage with selected groups, offering support to secure funding.
6. Grants are distributed!
YCJF staff and Regional Leads collaborate with partners to expedite the funding process for selected groups.
7. Join the YCJF community
Selected groups are welcomed to a YCJF introductory call and invited to co-develop youth-focused capacity development resources.
