The SADC Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCA) Financing Facility has launched its Third Open Call for Concept Notes, inviting proposals that strengthen biodiversity conservation while advancing inclusive green economy initiatives across Southern Africa.
The facility is managed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) through its Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office. It operates under the broader framework of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and receives support from the European Union’s NaturAfrica programme.
Background
The TFCA Financing Facility was established to ensure long-term, sustainable funding for conservation and development within Transfrontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs). These cross-border landscapes promote regional cooperation, biodiversity protection, and socio-economic development.

The application process follows a two-stage structure:

A preparatory webinar is scheduled for January 2026 to guide prospective applicants.
Concept Note Deadline: 31 March 2026 (5 PM SAST)
Only applicants whose concept notes are approved will be invited to submit full project proposals later in 2026.
