Applications are open for the Mediterranean Pavilion Side Events at COP31, with the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) inviting organisations to propose and host side events at the Mediterranean Pavilion during the 2026 UN Climate Change Conference.

The initiative offers organisations an opportunity to bring Mediterranean climate challenges, practical solutions and regional cooperation efforts to the global climate agenda. Selected proposals will contribute to the programme of the Mediterranean Pavilion, a shared space located in the conference’s official Blue Zone.

About the Mediterranean Pavilion

The Mediterranean Pavilion is being coordinated by the Union for the Mediterranean in partnership with regional institutions. It will bring together policymakers, researchers, international organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, showcase climate initiatives and strengthen cooperation across the Mediterranean region.

The Pavilion is intended to highlight the region’s climate priorities while demonstrating how local and regional solutions can contribute to wider global climate action.

What Proposals Should Focus On

Organisations are encouraged to submit proposals that:

• Present practical and innovative climate solutions.
• Highlight project results, lessons learned and measurable outcomes.
• Demonstrate approaches that can be replicated or adapted elsewhere.
• Address climate challenges from a Mediterranean or regional perspective.
• Encourage cross-border cooperation and partnerships.
• Show clear links to the thematic priorities of COP31.
• Go beyond institutional promotion by offering valuable knowledge and evidence.

Proposals may involve discussions on climate adaptation, mitigation, resilience, regional cooperation, nature-based solutions, climate finance, sustainable development or other relevant Mediterranean climate priorities.

Event Format and Requirements

Proposed side events must meet the following requirements:

• Language: English
• Duration: 60 minutes
• Maximum number of speakers: Five, including the moderator
• Representation: Attention should be given to gender balance and inclusive participation
• Location: Mediterranean Pavilion, COP31 Blue Zone, Antalya, Türkiye

Organisations should ensure that their proposed sessions are focused, participatory and relevant to the climate challenges and opportunities facing the Mediterranean region.
