Health
The Foundation backs innovative approaches to public health, particularly in reproductive health and family planning, and their integration with other health initiatives. The Foundation prioritizes community-level disease prevention, health promotion, and strengthening regional and national public health systems, rather than focusing on clinical diagnosis and treatment. Activities designed to build capacity include applied research, program development, technical assistance, and training projects that:
- Promote reproductive health and family planning.
- Address mental and behavioral health issues.
- Tackle pollution and environmental health concerns.
- Improve understanding of zoonotic diseases and neglected tropical diseases.
- Address nutrition and its impact on health.
Types of Support
The Foundation supports projects and applied research that:
- Offer local or regional solutions to environmental and human life challenges.
- Foster local leadership and encourage professional development in conservation, agriculture, and health sciences.
- Build the capacity of local organizations and coalitions.
- Address real-world challenges in their respective fields.
The Foundation prioritizes funding for projects that tackle underfunded issues and focus on underserved geographic areas.
The Foundation provides funding for applied research, pilot projects, new initiatives, training, and technical assistance, rather than ongoing support for established programs.
