WCMC is a UK-based charity collaborating closely with the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) to tackle global environmental crises. With a focus on science and policy, WCMC works to shape global and national actions to reverse biodiversity loss and protect nature.
Role Overview: We are seeking a Programme Officer for our Nature Economy team to work on projects at the intersection of biodiversity and economics. This position will focus on areas like natural capital accounting, sustainable finance, and corporate biodiversity metrics, helping shape a nature-positive global economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to projects that empower economic actors to act for nature.
- Provide technical expertise on nature-related metrics, data, and tools for decision-making.
- Build and maintain partnerships with stakeholders, including governments, businesses, and financial institutions.
- Manage projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.
- Organize and facilitate workshops and meetings, both virtual and in-person.
- Contribute to reports and analyses on biodiversity and nature-related policies.

Undergraduate degree in economics, biodiversity, environmental sustainability, or related fields (postgraduate degree is desirable).
Experience in international biodiversity projects, including working with businesses or financial institutions on nature-related issues.
Strong project management skills, ability to meet deadlines, and experience in leading workshops and events.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English (additional languages like Portuguese, French, or Spanish are a plus).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and familiarity with SharePoint is helpful.
