Call for Applications: Internship Programme – World Food Forum (WFF)

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is inviting young individuals from around the world to apply for its Internship Programme under the World Food Forum (WFF). This opportunity is open to motivated candidates who wish to contribute to global efforts toward transforming agrifood systems and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Applications will close on 15 November 2025 at 11:59 PM, and the internship will take place at FAO Headquarters in Rome, Italy, for a duration ranging from three to eleven months.

This internship aims to engage bright and passionate individuals in the Office of Youth and Women (OYW), which plays a key role in integrating youth and gender perspectives across FAO’s work. The OYW ensures that young people and women are central to FAO’s internal and external initiatives, promoting leadership, equality, and empowerment. The office also advances the work of the FAO Youth and Women’s Committees and leads the World Food Forum (WFF), a youth-driven global platform that encourages innovation, knowledge exchange, and transformative action within agrifood systems.

Established in 2021, the World Food Forum has become a leading youth-led global movement dedicated to building a sustainable and inclusive food future. It empowers young people to design and implement solutions that address global food challenges through innovation, science, and technology. The forum serves as a key space for collaboration and policy dialogue, aligning with international goals such as the United Nations Food Systems Summit and fostering youth engagement in shaping the future of global food governance.

Interns selected for this programme will support various aspects of the World Food Forum’s activities, which may include policy research, communications, partnership development, event coordination, innovation projects, and creative initiatives such as art, film, and cultural events. Each intern will be supervised by an FAO officer and assigned specific responsibilities aligned with their academic background and skills.

Applicants must be enrolled in or have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized institution listed in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). They should be nationals of a country that is a member of FAO, aged between 21 and 30 years, and possess good communication abilities and adaptability to a multicultural environment. Candidates must have a working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish), while knowledge of an additional FAO language is considered an advantage.

Preference will be given to applicants who bring relevant experience in areas such as policy support, innovation, fundraising, communications, cultural projects, or event organization. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative, teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to learning and contributing within an international organization.
