This role is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of disability inclusion in Africa while working on the BRIDGE-Africa project, aimed at promoting the rights of individuals with disabilities across the continent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Policy Development: Drive the implementation of disability-inclusive policies under the African Disability Protocol and other relevant frameworks.
- Project Coordination: Align activities with the African Union's Disability Strategic Framework and other AU policies.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with AU Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), international development partners, and civil society organizations.
- Advocacy & Capacity Development: Promote the ratification and implementation of the African Disability Protocol, and support information-sharing on disability inclusion.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Participate in the results-based monitoring of the BRIDGE-Africa project and prepare policy briefs for AU leadership
Additional Information:
- Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- Travel: Expect to travel within Ethiopia, to other African countries, and possibly Europe.

Educational Background: A Master's degree or higher in fields like Disability Inclusion, International Law, Human Rights, or International Development.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years of experience, with at least 5 years in disability-inclusive development.
At least 3 years of experience working with the African Union Commission (AUC) or similar institutions.
Comprehensive knowledge of AU Disability frameworks, policies, and trends in disability inclusion.
Experience working with multilateral and bilateral development partners.
Skills: Strong communication, analytical, strategic, and project management skills, with a proven ability to work in high-visibility political settings. A diplomatic approach, gender sensitivity, and knowledge of intersectionality are essential.
