Job Opportunity : GIZ African Union is searching for Consultants for the Africa CDC CEU Points Program Framework

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention is an autonomous technical Agency established by the African Union (AU) to enhance the capacity, capabilities, and partnerships of Africa's public health institutions. Its primary goal is to control, Prevent, detect, and respond to disease threats and outbreaks by employing science, policy, and data-driven interventions and programs effectively and efficiently.

Africa CDC is advocating for a New Public Health Order, bolstering public health institutions, developing the health workforce, increasing local medical manufacturing capability, and forming trustworthy partnerships in order to effectively recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. A competent public health workforce is necessary to guarantee the health security of 1.3 billion Africans. Strong human resources for health are a critical prerequisite for Africa to attain universal healthcare and collective health security, as stated in both the AU Agenda 2063 and the Africa Health Strategy 2016–2030.

It is evident from the CDC's strategic focus on workforce development for public health throughout the continent that the organisation is dedicated to raising the standard and number of public health professionals in Africa. The many short- and medium-length trainings and workshops on public health topics that Africa CDC provides as part of its mission reach a broad spectrum of healthcare professionals, researchers, politicians, and public health practitioners.

A strong framework for professional growth in the field of public health can be established with the help of Continuing Education Units (CEUs), which Africa CDC recognises as being essential in formalising and standardising the recognition of its training efforts. Furthermore, CEUs are a very useful tool for public health professionals since they are a generally recognised and unambiguous sign of continued competency in a field that is changing quickly.

To that end, Africa CDC is seeking a skilled consultant to work with them to jointly create a thorough system for granting Continuing Education Units (CEUs). This consultancy's goal is to examine the body of research on CEU point accreditation, pinpoint international best practices for CEU point granting, and provide a framework that is transparent, standardised, and compatible with global norms. The Consultant will work with programme personnel to create a system for guaranteeing programme quality assurance and support them in setting up an accreditation procedure for the many courses that Africa CDC offers.

Don't miss out on the application deadline which is 25 Jun 2024.
