The International CLIVAR Project Office (ICPO) is inviting applications for a Staff Scientist position based in Qingdao, China. The role is hosted by the Ocean University of China (OUC) and supports the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) through the CLIVAR project.
This opportunity is suited to qualified professionals with a background in oceanography, climate science, or related fields who are interested in international scientific coordination and climate research. The successful candidate will work closely with leading researchers and contribute to activities addressing ocean variability, predictability, and climate change.
Key Responsibilities
The Staff Scientist will support the ICPO and CLIVAR scientific community by:
- Providing technical and administrative support to CLIVAR panels and working groups.
- Coordinating scientific meetings, workshops, and events.
- Preparing meeting minutes, reports, and other technical documents.
- Maintaining CLIVAR and ICPO webpages and scientific information.
- Supporting communication and dissemination activities.
- Assisting with graphics and multimedia content for publications and websites.
- Gathering and maintaining current scientific information.
- Supporting the ICPO Director and project team.
- Contributing to CLIVAR-related scientific research when opportunities arise.
