Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung scholarships for young Africans: funded study and research in Germany in 2024
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung offers scholarships to international students hailing from Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. These scholarships enable students to pursue studies at any of the 400+ universities in Germany. Aimed at graduates with a university degree, the program supports postgraduate or master's studies, doctoral programs, or research fellowships spanning at least three semesters at a German university.
Requirements include holding a university degree, showcasing above-average academic performance, being under 35 at the time of application, possessing good German language proficiency (at B1* or B2 level), actively engaging in voluntary work, planning to study for a minimum of 4 semesters in Germany, having a broad education and keen interest in political issues, displaying a positive attitude towards democracy and human rights, being open to evolving perspectives and practicing tolerance, and showcasing high motivation and the ability to articulate their life goals convincingly.
Proficiency in German at level B2 is mandatory for all scholars before commencing their university studies in Germany. In exceptional cases, the program offers financial support for German language courses in Germany to reach the B2 level in preparation for studies.
The standard funding periods span two years for Master's programs and three years for PhD programs. Recipients not only receive monthly scholarships but also gain access to a global network of over 14,000 alumni, a diverse seminar program, and personalized mentoring.
